With Australia losing around 458 young people each year to suicide, ReachOut wanted to create a fundraising event to coincide with mental health month in October. Our brief was to develop a movement challenge that was accessible, fun and motivating, and one that offered people the flexibility to move just a little or a lot.
Inspired by the philosophy that your best exercise is your next exercise, we came up with Make a Move – an inclusive, fun and flexible movement challenge that encouraged people to move their body every day for the month of October.
The event allows you to move your body in any way you choose – from running to rock climbing to rollerblading. All you have to do is choose a movement goal, starting at 15 minutes a day, then stick to it.
The campaign features an active type treatment and line-work that allows headlines to jump, skip and wiggle across the page or screen. And the results speak for themselves.
In the first year over 2,900 people registered and helped raise over $235,000. In the second year, registrations jumped to more than 4,700 which raises $391,000, to support youth suicide prevention.
