Inner West Film Fest
IWFF

The Inner West Film Fest (IWFF) is an unpretentious celebration of filmmaking set in Sydney’s colourful inner west. In its second year, and going after a broader market, the IWFF needed to establish itself on Sydney’s cultural event calendar. Our brief was to elevate the brand, while still remaining true to its roots.

If the east is Sydney’s heart, the inner west is Sydney’s soul - multi-cultural, down-to-earth, resilient with a strong sense of community. The Inner West has no pretence, it knows who it is.In developing the IWFF brand we wanted to create something equally as authentic. We started with a mark that taps into visual language of film. Our colour palette draws energy from the diversity of the Inner West community, combined with a strong use of black, the result is a gritty boldness, that’s reminiscent of the heyday of bill posters. We developed a brand voice that embraces comedy in the same way the IWFF embraces comedic films – work that is often left out of festival line-ups. It is confident, to the point, film literate without a trace of snobbery and always ready to have a laugh. Finally, the new tagline, "A bit west of the usual film fest," positions the brand in a new festival space, promising and delivering on an experience that is unexpectedly different.

 ● TESTIMONIAL

“The strength of our new identity and launch campaign really transformed everyone’s viewpoint of the IWFF. 2024 has been a huge success, and off the back of that success, the Inner West Council has increased their committment as major sponsor to three years.”

Dov Kornits, Founder, Inner West Film Fest.
